Following my return from maternity leave, Sarah Hughes Decor is currently operating as a smaller, more personal team led by me. While our structure has changed over time, the heart behind it remains the same - high-quality workmanship, creativity, and genuine care for every project.
As demand grows, there may be opportunities to expand the team again in the future, including welcoming back trusted former team members, while continuing to champion women entering the trade.
With a keen eye for detail and a genuine passion for what I do, I aim to be an asset to your home throughout your project—not a drag! I’m always happy to offer guidance on style and colour so we can bring your vision to life, together.

Business Owner
With a degree in music and a career as a professional saxophonist, the challenges of the 2020 pandemic led me to reassess my line of work. Faced with limited live music opportunities, I decided to redirect my creativity and started training as a painter and decorator. I quickly fell in love with the profession and soon founded Sarah Hughes Decor.
My journey into painting and decorating has blossomed into a passion for transforming homes and bringing customers' visions to life. As a proud female business owner in a male dominated industry, seeing the growing presence of women amongst us is a source of both personal and professional fulfillment.
At the end of 2025, my husband and I became parents. Welcoming a baby has been a very busy and rewarding time, and has brought a new meaning to work life balance! I’ve been enjoying the transition into family life alongside running the business.
Outside of work you will often find me rock climbing in the Peak District with my husband and friends; it is what drew us to relocate to Buxton and remains to be my favourite way to unwind after a week of hard labour!
